"A Father's Footsteps" July the Sixth, Two-Thousand and Two Written by Suzi Shimoyama Directed by Koichi Sakamoto
We're inside what looks like a dojo. Then, we hear someone try to fire themselves up and some feet (two things I don't want to hear or see when I first wake up). We then see some old guy practicing some martial arts. He punches, then brings his right hand back. We see a shogun statue in the same room he is in. Then, the camera shot goes outside and into the woods (must be a fly cam) and then a red streak comes into the room where the old man is and goes into the shogun statue and makes it alive. The old guy is shocked while the new Shogun Org demands the old man to defend his fighting style. The old man though is freightened no more as the Shogun Org says to begin. The Shogun Org charges first, so the old man does the same. The old man blocks a punch and tries to get one in on his own. He then tries to grab the horns but is punched in the gut, and he falls down. KO (knock-out) for the Shogun Org. Jindrax and Toxica applaud the action (still looking hideous). Jindrax calls what I thought was the Shogun Org "Samurai Org". Samurai Org notices what he calls "one horns" (Jindrax and Toxica). Jindrax tells Samurai Org that he is truly the master of the martial arts (then what have the other 25 destroyed Orgs used? chicken fighting?). As every other Org, Samurai Org gets on his knees and asks how can he serve them. Toxica says they represent Master Org and that he has a gift for him and would like him to use it for him. Toxica gives him a sword. Samurai Org says it would be his honor. All three disappear. Then the old guy finally gets up. He slams his hand on the ground (probably because his pride was broken, or maybe an ant crawled in). We see Alyssa fly through the air and kick both Danny and Max to the ground (Danny shouldn't have fallen, but Max should have flown into China by the way that kick was powered). Max and Danny are on the ground groaning while Alyssa says to "Bring it on". None of the rangers have their usual attire. Danny and Max look at each other and kick-out at the same time. Alyssa just shakes her head. She holds her fists up and moves her feet. Alyssa is in her "fighting" stance. Max does the old man yell and both charge. Max tries a round house but misses badly, then a kick that is blocked. Danny tries to punch but is blocked twice. He tries two more, and when he goes for a third, he's slapped down. Max does the old man yell yet again (I thought he was just a kid) and tries to swing his arm but is blocked. Alyssa sticks her arm out. Max just gets out of the way by moving his neck. Max is then sweep-kicked by Alyssa. Both are staring down each-other now. Danny gets up behind Alyssa as he cracks his shoulders. Alyssa turns around and smiles. She has one person front and in back of her. Max and Danny go after her but Alyssa just backflips back to a side where no one is. Danny and Max both try to get in a punch but are blocked at the same time. Alyssa does nothing (she may have put a finger on the two) and Danny and Max fall to the ground. Danny and Max hold their bodies in pain and Max is groaning. Alyssa just laughs. Danny asks Max how did she do that. Max said she just got lucky today (yeah, the wind helped Alyssa). Danny says she's been lucky for the past four months (she can't even beat Toxica, so Danny and Max are probably the worst fighters since Rocky or Justin). Alyssa is still smiling. Danny asks where she learned to fight like that (Danny and Max are Power Rangers but they've never had any formal training?). Alyssa says her dad, she says he taught her everything she knows (not much, other then to cook I guess). We're at the big turtle, a.k.a. the Animarium. The rangers are back in their usual attire. Alyssa is giving 2 or 3 pancakes to Cole who thanks her for them. Taylor again is reading the newspaper (jeez, must be expensive to send newspapers in the sky, I wonder how they mail gets to the rangers in the Animarium? Sky mail? Air mail? Does a bird go down and pick it up for them?). Alyssa sets the kitchen ware down when Danny and Max show up all bruised and battered. Cole asks them who won. Danny and Max just point to Alyssa (maybe it was to the wind to when Danny and Max fell down to Alyssa's "finger tips"). Alyssa sets down a plate for the Princess so she can put eggs on the plate she is holding. Cole goes over to Danny and Max and grabs their shoulders. Danny and Max grasp in pain as Cole asks them if Alyssa got lucky again. Taylor is holding her coffee and taking her eyes off the paper to see what is going on. Max says that they don't have enough time to practice like she does (so what does he have to do all day? bowling is definitely not an excuse either). Danny says they are busy doing more important things (yeah like sitting on the Animarium all day waiting for Orgs). Danny tries to spit out that she has more time but Taylor stands up (that's when it all gets quiet) and throws the paper down showing an article and a photo about Alyssa. Taylor points to the picture. Cole, Danny, and Max look to Alyssa, then Danny and Max look to each other, and finally, they look down. Max reads that Alyssa "last name" (unclear to me how to spell it) is awarded the Kaplan Scholarship for maintaining a perfect grade point average (now there's a first, the first rangers were good students in Angel Grove High but never got "perfect" grade point averages, Alyssa is the first to get a GPA of 4.0! if we're using the 4 point scale, also Kaplan? Principal Kaplan?). Max hands the paper to Danny as Alyssa puts a plate of food down. As Alyssa scoops eggs down, Cole asks Alyssa why didn't she tell them. Alyssa reacts as if the guys don't care, and says it's no big deal. Danny says it sounds like a big deal to him. Alyssa takes off her apron she always wear when cooking when her cell phone rings. It's actually her Growl Phone (Sheesh, the bills for Wild Force must be running really high if their Growl Phones can be used with "human" telephones). Alyssa finds out it is her dad who is calling from a phone booth. He says he's in Turtle Cove on business. Alyssa seems excited. Her dad says that maybe when he's finished, they could have lunch and asks if she's free (he has long hair, odd to see that in a "businessman"). Alyssa says she is and that she can have her biology class at 3:00 and they can meet at the University Cafè. Her dad writes it down on a notepad. He says that's great and says he'll see her then. Alyssa says bye and hangs up her Growl Phone (I wonder how the rangers dial out, they better not use speed dial or else they could morph in public). Cole still has his shoulders on Danny and Max. Max asks Alyssa if that was her dad. Alyssa says it is and Danny stands up and asks if that was the guy who taught her martial arts (why doesn't Danny just go to a karate club and learn like everyone else?). Alyssa says it is and starts smiling. Danny comments that he must be as strong as an ox. Alyssa thinks for a second, and says that he once actually wrestled an ox (wonder who won). Alyssa leaves with her backpack and helmet. She turns around and says that he won (I'm guessing her dad threw a chair at the ox and the ox got knocked out). We're in the park, and Alyssa is saying hi to people. Alyssa is now in the classroom, sitting in the front row, with a teacher writing down stuff on a white board. Alyssa is nodding her head as she writes (surprisingly, no Bulk or Skull's in the classroom, oh wait, this is college). The teacher hands her a scantron, and written in red ink, A+. A bald guy next to her looks at the paper (too late to copy now you goof). Alyssa is laughing as she shows off to people behind her. She's now in the library reading a big book and taking notes. She strokes her hair as she continues reading (not even Billy studied that much). We're in a dance studio with people waving their arms, and we see Alyssa getting in the groove. Her hair is braided. We're on a bridge now, with two guy in traditional karate school outfits. One guy has two kendo sticks and the other a headband. They go at it, with one guy giving a strong kick and the other blocking them (the guy with the sticks it fat and wears glasses). He has the guy with the headband but he keeps jumping over his sticks. Headband guy finally kicks the sticks out of his opponent's hands into the air. The guy that had the sticks tries to get in some punches but misses, and the headband guy flips over the guy and grabs them. He then bows. The other guy (the master I presume) doesn't look pleased. Then, someone comes in running behind the instructor, and it's Alyssa's dad. The glasses guy breaks a smile and goes over to Alyssa's dad to hug. He tells the instructor, whose name is Sensei Tasaki, that his match was very nice. He then calls Alyssa's dad, "Enrile-San", and that it is very nice to see him. We're in the hall way now, as Alyssa is walking out. She looks at a sign, as it says to join the "Turtle Cove University Karate Club". We go into a flash back, with some martial arts students, and what looks like Alyssa and her dad in the back. Alyssa of course is wearing a karate uniform. Alyssa clenches her fist, and does the stuff like she did when she battled with Max and Danny earlier. She looks the same, but her hair curled. Five guys surround her. One guy tries to kick but is blocked, and another tries the same but is blocked as well. Alyssa blocks all the guys moves, and then gets in one of her own punches. Some guy comes in with two flying kicks but they're blocked. Alyssa blocks another guy's punches, and punches him right in the gut. She then kicks a guy in the stomach who falls right in front of the feet of what should be her dad. Alyssa's dad nods the action. Alyssa continues, and roundhouse kicks one guy, and jumps and kicks another guy. She elbows a guy behind her, and then flips and tries to elbow a guy, but struggles. She then turns the guy around as he falls. She quickly kicks two oncoming guys, and then punches another guy in the gut. Then she turns him over, not bad I guess. They leave, leaving Alyssa and her dad behind. Alyssa tells her dad that she has something that she needs to talk to him about (oh no, she's not having a baby is she?). Her dad says "What is it". Alyssa says she put a lot of thought into it and says she wants to go to Turtle Cove University next year. Her dad is shocked (yeah, all the money she's gonna need I would be too). Her dad looks away and Alyssa says it's very important to her and she wants to learn all she can about science and about nature (hey, nature and karate go hand-in-hand, I guess). He asks her if she's going to throw away everything he's taught her. Her dad has the angry face and says no, and is about to walk away, holding a kendo stick (I would not want to be their). He says that she has to stay there, and carry on Enrile Tiger Tradition. Alyssa's face turns. Then, we're in the present and Alyssa's face is smiles. She says she is trying. The bell rings and Alyssa hurries out the door (What, Turtle Cove University has hall monitors?). We're at the place from where Alyssa's dad was just at, and we see a lot of students, practicing moves one-on-one with each-other. The guy we saw in action earlier looks to be helping two students. Then, we zoom into Alyssa's dad and the instructor. Alyssa's dad tells the instructor that he sees that he's still training. The instructor it is but also says not for long. He says the old body doesn't move like it used to. They both laugh over tea (or shots of, well, over 21 stuff). The instructor says that it might be time for his son to take over the dojo. He asks Alyssa's dad how is her daughter doing, and asks if she's about ready to take over his place soon. Alyssa's dad seems confused and embarassed, and says that she doesn't really practice Enrile Tiger Style anymore. The instructor's head leans forward as the dad is telling the instructor she decided to go to the University instead. He says he's happy for her. It's what she wants (yeah, if she's successful, he can be a millionaire if she lands a good job). The instructor asks what about his family style, and who is going to carry on the Enrile family tradition. Alyssa's dad just looks, and says he guesses it's just going to end with him. He takes a sip of tea and gives the evil eye to his "friend". We see Samurai Org attack some cars with his new sword, slicing one in half. People are running, and he just laughs. He takes another swing and cuts the top of another old car off. We're at Turtle Cove University, and some old professor probably is saying good afternoon to his class. We're in a pretty big classroom. The professor is saying they are going to review last week's quiz on "Glycolysis" (sounds interesting). Alyssa's Growl Phone rings, and some people look at her, but most don't. She answers it, and it's Princess Shayla who claims she's sorry, but tells Alyssa the rangers need her. Alyssa says she'll be right their. She leaves and walks down the steps. The instructor says, "Glycolysis, classification kingdom" and points to a green chalkboard (don't see many of those today). Alyssa walks up to the professor, and says she's sorry, she has to go (I wish I could do that in every class). The professor presumably lets her leave. Alyssa looks at the clock, and sprints out. By the way, the time was 2:25. We see four rangers running from one side, and then Alyssa running from another and they all meet up. Taylor tells Alyssa to try and make that quick. Alyssa says she will since she has to meet her father at 3. We see Samurai Org, chop down a power line pole with his new sword. The pole falls right into a convertible car and blows up (feel sorry for that guy, hope he has insurance). We see individual shots of the rangers running. People are running, and Samurai Org calls them "cowards". The rangers continue running and Cole spots Samurai Org. The rangers morph yelling "Wild Access!". The rangers finish the morphing sequence, and the rangers draw their weapons. Taylor goes first as she soars through the air, meeting Samurai Org at 20 feet high I'm guessing, and they clash swords. Taylor gets the worst of it though, getting hit and sent flying right next to a river. We see Alyssa's dad, with his briefcase, sitting down at a table. He's smiling. His watch reads 3:00 (it's also a watch that can go 30 Meters underwater and can still be read, but it took the rangers over a half-hour to reach Samurai Org! Why didn't they just morph and use their Savage Cycles?). Danny is the next victim as he gets hit, then Danny. Taylor is swatted, and Alyssa is the next to be hit. Cole trys to get in a hit, but then is hit hard. Cole tries to use his Lion Fangs, but as he's jumping, is hit again. The rangers come together probably thinking what can they do. Back at the Turtle Cove University Cafè, Alyssa's dad is wondering where Alyssa is, as his watch reads 3:15. It appears as if he's finished a sandwich, and an iced tea. He sees someone, gets up, and gets his bag. He excuses himself to the girl (pretty good looking, red hair), and asks her where the Biology building is. The girl points to us to the left a little. He's in the building now, and we see the professor from earlier. The professor asks if he can help him. Alyssa's dad excuses himself once again and says he's looking for his daughter, Alyssa Enrile. The professor says he doesn't know where she is. He says she cut out of her class and she interrupted his lecture. Mr. Enrile says "She did?". He walks out of the building, all mad. We see yet another flashback, Alyssa a few years ago, pleading to her father to understand that all she wants to do is explore her dream. Mr. Enrile looks back, and says that if she can pass his test, he will let her go. He holds his kendo stick, and says she must stop the sword (I've never seen a wooden sword before). Alyssa clenches her fists, and stands up, and gets in her form. Alyssa's dad and Alyssa square off. Alyssa decides to charge, and Mr. Enrile goes for the legs but Alyssa dodges that by cartwheeling. Alyssa tries a kick, but Mr. Enrile simply backs off. Then, Alyssa manages to grab the sword under her arm. She hits it, but Mr. Enrile still has a hold of it. She then decides to flip back. Then, Mr. Enrile decides to do a hammer shot, by bringing his sword down. Alyssa tries to catch it with her hands, but her shoulder does instead. She falls to the ground. Mr. Enrile asks himself what has he done (not teach her enough I guess). Alyssa, holding her shoulder, says she knows he wants him to follow in his footsteps, and it hurts her to know she's letting him down, but says she wants to follow her path, and starts crying (sort of like Wes). Mr. Enrile's face just sits there. He says he understands. He walks over to her, touches her shoulder, and says he will let her go. Alyssa starts laughing. Mr. Enrile says she has his blessings. They then hug. Mr. Enrile, in the present now, is walking rather slowly. Samurai Org yells out "Full Moon Strike" (something Zen-Aku like I guess). His sword lights up as he does a crescent shaped motion with his sword. It slashes all the rangers (where's Merrick?). Cole asks how did he do that (well, with his sword). Danny says he used the power of the moon and punches the rocky ground. Alyssa says whatever it is, she doesn't have time for it and helps herself up using her Tiger Baton. She charges Samurai Org, as the other rangers say no, and gets hit pretty big that makes an explosion. People at Turtle Cove University see this, including Mr. Enrile. He's thinking of something, and decides to check it out. The rangers tend to Alyssa who is fine. She says her father is waiting for her. Samurai Org just laughs. Alyssa says they have to finish this now. We see Alyssa's dad running to the action. He hides behind a building and watches the rangers. Alyssa tells Samurai Org she's in a hurry. Samurai Org's red eye firess a blast that hits the rangers. Alyssa though rolls throughs it and attempts to kick Samurai Org but is bounced back. Mr. Enrile notes the strength. Samurai Org tells Alyssa that her fighting style is the worst he's ever seen (what about Max or Danny? Do they even have fighting styles?). Alyssa gets up and says no way, and tells Samurai Org he has no idea what he's talking about. She gets into her stance, and says that her fighting style is the best there is, and she will prove it to him. Samurai Org just laughs as they get into a showdown. Mr. Enrile is sensing something similar about the White Wild Force Ranger. He notes the style, and thinks back to when he was teaching Alyssa (and she had long hair). We then get a flash of the white ranger. He says "Alyssa". Samurai Org charges and says he'll show her what a real master can do. Samurai Org attempts to bring his sword down rather hard, as the other rangers scream. Mr. Enrile gasps, but Alyssa catches the sword with her hands. Mr. Enrile says she did it. Alyssa grabs the sword down, and says he'll pay for insulting her family's fighting style. Samurai Org is shocked and asks how she, but she is interuptted by Alyssa and tells him to be quiet. She smashes her elbow and breaks the sword (what a cheap gift from Master Org). Alyssa then gets her White Tiger Baton and just pokes it at Samurai Org. Alyssa's dad is shown smiling. Samurai Org attempts to fire from what is left of his sword but Alyssa just crawls to the ground. She jumps as the rangers set up a little push for her with their arms. She flies right into Samurai Org and uses some special attack called Tiger Thrust, a form similar to "Time Strike", except not using two swords. Samurai Org is defeated, and Alyssa grabs her Baton, and slides one of her hands down. Alyssa's dad seems impressed, shrugs his shoulder, and then walks off. Cole goes over to Alyssa and says that was awesome. Taylor agrees. Alyssa thanks them. Someone says to look, and Alyssa says they're not done. Samurai Org tells himself a little girl can't do this to him. Alyssa does the Wild Force motto, guardians of the earth thing. Samurai Org charges, but isn't running fast enough as the rangers have all the time in the world to build the Jungle Sword. Cole even gives the honors to Alyssa (How slow is that!). All she does though is yell Savage Slash (sheesh, anyone can do that). The whole formation is done, and Samurai Org isn't even close to reaching the rangers. Samurai Org is hit pretty hard, and looks as if he's going to blow up. He turns into green sludge. The rangers celebrate, and Alyssa notes that they did it. Jindrax and Toxica sprint over and Jindrax says "What a shame, I thought he'd be a lot stronger than that". Toxica says he will be now. She gets her staff and does the whole evil spirits thing, and fires out the seeds which make Samurai Org alive and well again. Taylor tells Alyssa and Max to catch, as she throws two animal crystals. Alyssa tells Taylor it's a good choice. The rangers call their wild zords. It's two bears, gorilla, eagle, and bison. The Kongazord is being formed. The rangers are already in the cockpit, with the Soul Bird, but it wasn't shown in the transformation sequence. Samurai Org's newly refurnished sword slashes the Kongazord. Samurai Org does the same Full Moon Strike on the rangers. He does the same motion, except the sword rotates around fully, and then the slash hits the megazord. No sparks fly though, but the megazord falls to the ground. Samurai Org says the rangers' megazord is useless against his moon power. Cole says Samurai Org is using it (Full Moon Strike) again. The same motion is done again, but during the scene, a shot of the Yellow Ranger mask and Taylor yelling "Hold on!" is flashed, as well as Max and Danny. Samurai Org is just about to hammer the Kongazord when Alyssa tells the White Tiger to destroy Samurai Org's sword. The White Tiger is shown running, and Samurai Org is shown with his sword but nowhere near the position he was in earlier to slash the Kongazord. The White Tiger spins and bits the sword off, and then claws Samurai Org. Alyssa tells the White Tiger that he or she is fantastic. The White Tiger growls in appreciation. The Kongazord now has a big anchor. Samurai Org says that it will take more than that to stop him. Alyssa calls for the Kongazord Swinging Anchor Attack. The megazord swings the anchor, hitting Samurai Org on the chest. As Samurai Org gets up, Alyssa calls for Double Knuckles and we see Samurai Org getting hit by the Bear zords. Samurai Org falls forward and blows up, and a shot of the Kongazord bringing its arms down. We see the sun going down, and Alyssa is running, with no one in sight (It's like 7 o' clock now). We see a flashback, with Alyssa rolling out a suitcase. A voice in the back is telling someone she knows how much the dojo means to him, and she knows that he wanted Alyssa to take over when he retires, but asks that if letting Alyssa go is the right thing for him. Inside, Mr. Enrile and presumably his wife are sitting down on the floor, having a nice talk. Mr. Enrile says it's not about him, it's about what's best for Alyssa. He made the decision to study martial arts. Alyssa is shown listening in. Mr. Enrile says he now has to let Alyssa decide what she wants. Mr. Enrile says they will support her, no matter what decision she makes (I wonder what they would have done if she decided to become a bowler like Max). Alyssa seems happy. We are shown once again Alyssa running. We see someone reading the news article Taylor showed the rangers earlier. Alyssa then sees her dad, sitting at a table. But unfortunately for her, her dad has to leave, on a bus. Her dad tells her that he's proud of her and he loves her. He also almost tells her that he knows she's a ranger. Alyssa then walks him to the bus. |
