Prior to becoming the Blue Overdrive Ranger, Dax was in the Hollywood business, but not doing what he always had dreamed of, starring in a film. He was a stunt double, meaning he would do all the fighting and dangerous stunts for the lead actor but none of the scenes where the world would see his face. That changed one day when he looked at an ad in a trade magazine looking for an action star, but was denied by Andrew Hortford to audition because of his roles as a Ranger. With a strong push from Rose, he ended up going to the audition. When Dax arrived, the role had already been cast. With a little luck by being in the right place at the right time, he was able to get the part. He was about to finish his scene when he realized deep down what was more important, his Ranger duties.
When Dax becomes obsessed with something, it is really hard to get him back in his mindset. He was so into Mira at first, that he didn't even have to think twice about surrendering two scrolls to Ultreg that were part of the Neptune Sword. Mira eventually revealed to be the evil villianess Miratrix and nearly got the third scroll but it ended up being a fake. Dax said after the ordeal that she knew they were searching for the jewels which set off an alarm. That didn't heal the fact that he really did have feelings for her but got over it in time to help the Rangers defeat Ultreg.
While the Ranger team is together, Dax is the team's comic relief. You can hear him say some strange things, including relating current events that could be great movie ideas, but when things are going rough for the Rangers, Dax is as good of a teammate as there gets.
