To change from ordinary human beings into Power Rangers, the Rangers need a morpher. Each morpher is powered by a Dino Gem, which was part of the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs millions of years ago. The Dino Gems are what Mesogog is after, and the only way he can get them is if a Ranger is destroyed.
