[cover story] MMPR on VH1's "I Love the 90's"
Aired on Tuesday, July 20th
The report (The segment lasted for about 2 minutes):
The segment opens up with the opener from the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (with the logo and the megazord forming). Mo Rocca (one of the hosts) holds up a Red Ranger action figure and sings the famous catchphrase, "Go Go Power Rangers!" We see part of the opening credits on the bottom left hand corner. Then, we get a shot of Walter Jones doing the morphing sequence (present-day probably in-studio) behind a screen with the logo in the background (he still has the same hair from Season 2). Dee Snider (the other host) tells the camera, "Oh my god... Power Rangers!" We get a shot of the Power Blaster firing from the Rangers. Dee says his kids got sucked into the show. Another host (I don't know his name) tells the camera, "Kids are stupid!" We get a shot of Rita Repulsa. She looks into her telescope and says, "That's right...walk into my trap!" As she's saying that, we get a shot of Goldar hitting the Red and Pink Rangers with his sword. She laughs. We then go to Walter Jones (Zach for those of you who don't remember). He says the show took Japanese footage (some various shots, including the infamous Pudgy the Pig), cut it up, and added American footage (using shots from "Food Fight" which have Patriotic themes) using young, American teenagers. We hear Kimberly yelling out, "How about trying a good ole' American cheeseburger!" We go to Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly) who tells the camera, "What was fun about the show was how badly made it was." We go to morphed footage from "Food Fight". The Yellow Ranger throws spicy food into Pudgy Pig's mouth, then him throwing up the food (in that episode, Pudgy ate the Rangers' weapons so the Rangers fed him spicy food to make him throw up the weapons). We go to more footage of the Rangers leaping into the air. Walter Jones tells us he was the original Black Ranger. Dee Snider comes in and says the Pink Ranger was the cutest of all. Amy laughs it off for a second and then says, "It's certainly something I will never be able to live down." Mo Rocca recalls the past, "Poppy can we watch a Power Ranger video?" He then recalls back to other parents telling him he would know what would happen if he would let them watch the show. Dee says that kids were definitely imitating the Power Rangers, kicking butt, secretly making out with the Pink Ranger in the bedroom. He has an old Black and Pink Ranger action figure, and "performs" what the latter with the figures. Amy says she's turning red and says it's so embrassing, and uses her hand as a fan for a moment. We go to another Megazord scene. Walter tells the camera about people asking him if he played the Black Ranger, and why they put him in the black suit, the Asian girl in the yellow suit. Amy says they obviously had to know that. The 3rd host from before claims the Green Ranger was Irish. We get some old Irish dancing in black and white with the Green Ranger helmet on the man. He adds the Orange Ranger was Northern Irish. The Yellow Ranger helmet is on the lady now. Mo tells us that there was never a Puerto Rican Power Ranger. We see some salsa dancing, with a helmet that has the Puerto Rican flag on it. We then go to an old toy commercial, with a kid's hand putting down the action figures in smoke, with the announcer saying, "It's the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers!" Dee Snider talks about getting the toys, and says he still carries the scars. Mo goes into talking about his children, "What do you want for your birthday? Power Rangers (in high-pitch). What do you want for Christmas? Power Rangers (again in high-pitch). He shakes the Red Ranger action figure he's been holding the entire time. He tries to punch the figure and flinches for a bit. He says they hurt when you hit them. We get a last shot of the Megazord and then the logo.
My reaction: A fair (and humorous) look at Power Rangers in 1993. The toy craze, the imitating were right on. Obviously the references to the Green Ranger being Irish and the Orange Ranger being Northern Irish were just extended jokes of the Black Ranger being black and Yellow Ranger begin Asian. Walter Jones felt comfortable about the show a decade later, while the opposite can be said for Amy Jo Johnson. Fans have spoken out against Amy Jo Johnson for her few lines on the show. What she doesn't (and probably won't) understand is that she will always be known as the original Pink Ranger. Obviously she holds resentment to ever being on the show. She has claimed in the past that being on Power Rangers has hurt her career. That isn't true; why she believes that I do not know. Justin Timberlake and Christina Aguilera were on the Mickey Mouse Club Show, and look where they are now. Right now she has a music career going on, and probably isn't where she would like to be (at least in my view). She needs a scape goat, so blaming Power Rangers is the way to go. One thing she hasn't said though is WHY. Why is she bitter? The pay probably wasn't good (knowing Haim Saban), so that could be a reason, but that's done and I'm sure complaining about it 10 years later won't do any good. She has said in interviews that Kimberly doesn't reflect her real self, but it's just a character. If she wants to talk about playing characters, how does she respond to her character getting raped on Felicity? (show on WB) Actors play many roles on TV, so that can't be it. She's gotten roles on other TV shows and movies after working on Power Rangers, so that also can't be it. It just doesn't make sense to me why she regrets being on the show other than just to blame something for where she's at.

ABC FAMILY Jetix's website is doing another poll for their Power Rangers Power Picks, this time it's favorite Megazords. There aren't enough selections for this (only 4), but at least they have the correct series with each Megazord. There's the Turbo Megazord (Turbo), Q-Rex (Time Force), Predazord (Wild Force), and Thunderstorm Megazord (Ninja Storm). I wish there were more Zord choices (such as the Dragonzord, any of the Power Rangers In Space, or Lightspeed Rescue Zords), but the Q-Rex has 46%, Thunderstorm Megazord has 41%, Predazord 9%, and Turbo Megazord 4%. I guess Eric Meyer's quote at the end of "Forever Red" saying the Q-Rex could eat the Dragonzord for lunch gave the Q-Rex a boost in votes.
Here's cover art for the next two volumes (2 & 3) of Dino Thunder on DVD from TVShowsondvd.com (LINK). Those will be released September 7th. There are also plans for two additional volumes (4 & 5). Buena Vista is aiming for a pre-holiday release. They'll have previews of the next series (Power Rangers SPD) in-addition.
I don't know how old this interview is but Cerina Vincent (Maya in Lost Galaxy) did an interview with About.com. She says Power Ranger fans will apperciate the film (Not Another Teen Movie), says the age range is from 8-45, and said when she did the movie, "I guess I'm not really going to be a superhero anymore. Or parents aren't going to want me to be." To read the rest of the interview, click HERE.
I thought this was a funny story. Olympic runners carrying the torch on the way to Athens passed by a little boy wearing "skintight clothing", and the boy yelled out "Power Rangers!" To read the story, click HERE.
Kate Sheldon (Nadira on Time Force) conducted a workshop "Hollywood 101" to teach children how to audition for commercials, movies, etc. The participants created a personal demo tape of their own. Credit: Vail Daily News
I have a correction from last week's newsletter (credit to Splunge):
Just so you know, Kevin Duhaney is NOT the character of Mushmouth (based on the description you gave in the update), and is not listed as a cast member. The actor playing that role is Jermaine Williams.
JDF In Black Belt Magazine Plus Interviews With Actor

Thanks to The Muellers for the story:
Inside the magazine he talks about Power Rangers Dino Thunder and making it in the Martial Arts Business with Teaching, Acting, etc.
Also there was an interview with Latham Gaines, the actor who plays Anton Mercer and Mesogog, Here is that interview (credit to www.powerrangerempire.com):
How did you like working on Xena and Hercules?
Latham: "It was very educational. It's a fun show. I had watched it in the states, then I find myself on the Xena set a few weeks later and it was pretty trippy. I liked that. You can't beat that. You wear goatees and swords and stuff. It was good fun."
What brought you to New Zealand?
Latham: "A Kiwi girl. I used to actually teach snowboarding. Out in Wyoming,I was a snowboard instructer.I met a Kiwi girl there, we fell in love and got married. She wanted to move to New Zealand, which I hadn't really hadn't heard of. So I did and a few weeks later found myself on the set of Xena."
I mentioned on PRE about about how Dino Thunder has quite a bit darker overtone on it and how I think that overtone would have been lost if you're characters would have started to turn funny after a few episodes.
Latham: "That was Doug's thing from the beginning. Doug said to me, "I want to scare the crap out of kids. I want it to be scary. Frightening too.".
How does the Mesogog suit feel?
Latham: "The clothes are pretty comfortable. The head isn't bad either. Some days it's hot and others it's not so bad. But overall it's pretty nice and comfortable."
What type of music do you listen to?
Latham: "I actually like to listen to hip-hop. I listen to Outkast, Missy Elliot, Ludacris, and so on. I also like classical music such as Bach."

EPISODE 16: "BURNING AT BOTH ENDS" REVIEW
Posted by TimJohnson on
July 25, 2004 @ 4:44 AM
(This is written about a month after the episode is aired, I know. I'm writing this without any knoledge of any future events)
I thought this was a good episode; lots of significant events occuring. Mesogog transformed into Dr. Anton Mercer for the first time, the ATV's were introduced (no doubt something implented for toy sales), and Trent's story continues.
ON TARGET
Trent's doing a good job shifting his character in the past few episodes. I'm becoming more and more impressed on the handling of the character.
I like how Conner didn't waste his time trying to tell Trent that he and his friends would help him. It makes more sense trying to defend himself against a powerful Ranger than try and reason and get his butt whooped.
They finally reveal Mesogog's true identity. I'm sure it surprised lots of viewers (at least those who don't look in on the storylines with a magnifying glass like you and I). I look forward to where this is going to go.
OFF TARGET
For however long Tommy is going to be stuck morphed takes away from why he was originally brought on the show. Him giving advice while morphed isn't the same when he's unmorphed. Fans think of Tommy in a Ranger suit ready to kick butt, it just doesn't feel the same.
The Zords being taken by an evil villain is old; it's been used for the past two years (well, for Ninja Storm it was a Power Sphere). At least they used a different method for this one.
This "What side is Trent on?" has to go. Maybe it's an opinion, but I think Trent is doing more to hurt the Rangers than he is doing to hurt Mesogog. I don't feel that people cheer when Trent messes up Mesogog's plans, as opposed to shock what Trent has done to the Rangers so far. A character similar to Trent right now is Magna Defender in his beginnings, which was done right. He really wasn't with the Rangers but not on the side of evil either. What they need to give Trent is a motive, and maybe this will make a little more sense.
STUFF TO THINK ABOUT
Isn't it about time the Raptor Riders were used?
Wow, all it took was a 30-second talk from Tommy about being in Trent's shoes to change Ethan and Conner's views on Trent.
Doesn't it look like Conner needs to work out more if he wants to show off his arms? (not that I was paying too much attention)
Aren't you glad that Conner stood up and fought Trent instead of standing and getting his butt kicked by trying to reason with him?
Couldn't Principal Randall find out where Tommy is since she's also Elsa?
Isn't all business between good and evil done in warehouses on Power Rangers?
Wow, are we really going to see in every area the Rangers go to morphed, that they are using transportation other than walking?
So going into next season, the motor veichle trend will be ATV's? Will we see each Ranger with one?
Why are the Rangers so shocked Trent made a deal with Mesogog? Don't they know that in most of Power Rangers' history, if you're not with the Rangers, you're with the enemy? (only guy I can think of is Magna Defender who doesn't fit the description)
So when Trent told Conner he doesn't make deals with posers, was that a shot at Conner who said "I'm so over that poser?" in-retaliation?
I think Tommy would want Trent to team up with Mesogog, since the patheticness around Mesogog's army will make him weaker!
Since Elsa is Principal Randall, shouldn't she have seen Tommy in the last fight scene and realized he WASN'T really sick after all?
SCHEDULING CHANGE ON ABC FAMILY, STRANGE POLL
Posted by TimJohnson on
July 20, 2004 @ 9:55 PM
For some reason this Sunday, instead of the two-part Power Rangers In Space series finale, "Countdown To Destruction", it will be the first Ninja Storm episode "Prelude To A Storm" and "I Love Lothor". The reason for the change was the voting done HERE. Only thing I can see is that kids aren't watching or don't know the older series, so they're going with the most recent series.
There's a poll (not on our site) on the link above. You can vote for Rita, Astronema, Trakeena, Ransik, and Lothor. For some reason, they have Astronema down as being from Power Rangers Time Force and Trakeena from Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue. It looks like these mistakes WON'T be fixed. It gets weirder from here, the results seem farfetched (as of 6 PM EST)
Lothor 63%
Rita 19%
Astronema 8%
Ransik 5%
Trakeena 4%
Seems the middle series of Power Rangers aren't reaching the target audience through Best of Power Rangers.
1RANGER WEEKLY UPDATE

[cover story] The Troubles of Tommy Oliver
Well, I've been away from the Power Ranger scene for nearly a month, and at that time Tommy Oliver was stuck in his Black Ranger suit. I come back, he's STILL stuck in his Ranger suit. For those of you who don't know, the reason why the storyline has him like this was because he took two months off earlier this year. It was probably a contract clause that stated he would get two months off so he could return to the U.S. where he resides for the producers to get him on the show.
Back to the storyline, what did this guy deserve all this trouble for? And I'm not just talking about this incident, his character has gone through problems since the day he appeared on Power Rangers. We can start from day one (some of these are probably not "real" problems but I included them anyway for "humor"):
10/5/93 - Green With Evil, Part I: Out of Control - Tommy Oliver arrives as the new kid to Angel Grove High School. He participates in a karate tournament and draws in the final round against Jason. Then as he goes outside, he is ambushed in an alley and Rita teleports him to her palace with her staff.
11/3/93 - Calamity Kimberly - On a normal walk to school with Kimberly, both are attacked by Putties. Tommy gets knocked out and Kimberly gets transported into a jar.
11/17/93 - The Green Candle, Part I - Tommy learns that Rita has a candle that when finished, he would lose his powers and they would return to Rita. Tommy fails in his quest to retrieve the candle in a fight against Goldar.
11/18/93 - The Green Candle, Part II - Jason is close to getting the candle but to no avail. Tommy is forced to give his powers to Jason.
3/1/94 - Return Of An Old Friend, Part I - To much of the audience at that time, Tommy makes his triumphant return to Power Rangers. He's given his power coin back, energized by Zordon (which causes him to go away for awhile), to go out and retrieve the power coins and Dragon Dagger the Rangers foolishly gave up to Goldar. He gets the coins and dagger but faints as he gets them. He's back, but in limited capacity.
5/3/94 - Trick Or Treat - Tommy has to forfeit his karate tournament to fight an evil pumpkin.
5/9/94 - Football Season - Tommy is having trouble learning the game of football, because of his karate. I've never heard that one before. At the end, the crowd in the Juice Bar gasps as he's not named (but Billy was), but Zach fortunately found the third page in the roster.
5/16/94 - Mighty Morphin Mutants - The audience learns Tommy is a forgetful person. Billy tries to help by making him a watch that reminds him of his chores, but it later breaks.
7/29/94 - The Mutiny, Part II - Tommy learns he doesn't get a new Zord, because he doesn't have enough power.
9/20/94 - The Power Stealer - Some of Tommy's powers are drained by Lord Zedd's monster Octophantom.
9/19/94 - The Green Dream - Tommy has a nightmare where he loses his powers in the middle of a battle. Lord Zedd creates a monster and turns him evil. The evil Tommy tricks his fellow Rangers in summoning the Sword of Power. After this mess is solved, Tommy's powers are revealed to be VERY low when we see he can't even summon the Dragonzord.
9/21/94 - The Beetle Invasion - More of Tommy's powers are drained by a new monster named Stag Beetle. Lord Zedd's way of thinking is why Rita is stuck in a jar out in space at this time.
9/26/94 - The Song Of Guitardo - Tommy has to use whatever power he has left to help Kimberly fight a monster.
9/27/94 - Green No More, Part I - While trying to enjoy a game of hoops, an image of Tommy from the "future" appears, telling him about a final battle and "communicator". Lord Zedd has a green crystal that is draining Tommy of whatever power he has left. Tommy is forced to join a battle with his low powers. When the fight is paused, Tommy gets teleported away into an open field. He meets the monster Turban. Tommy runs and hides behind a rock.
9/28/94 - Green No More, Part II - Turban goes looking for Tommy and they have a fight. Turban gets the better, but worse for Tommy, Goldar arrives! He taunts Tommy, showing him in a little device all his heroics and achievements. He goes up to Tommy and tries to force him to say he is his superior. It doesn't work and Tommy grabs the device, teleporting him and Goldar somewhere. Tommy helps his friends out, but that's his last battle. In the command center, the Rangers thank him for his heroics as Jason shows Tommy his powers have faded away.
For awhile, nothing happens. With Tommy having NEW powers as the White Ranger and a new set of teammates, it's difficult to single out Tommy in any of Lord Zedd's evil schemes.
2/20/95 - Return of The Green Ranger, Part I - Putties cut some of Tommy's hair for the Wizard of Deception to make a clone of him. Tommy is knocked out by the wizard in the process. His clone tricks the Rangers into going back into the 1700's. He meets his clone at the end of the episode.
2/21/95 - Return of The Green Ranger, Part II - Tommy and his clone are in a debate on who is the stronger. The only thing they can agree on his that only one of them can exist at a time. Both fight but are equally matched. The Wizard cheats by hitting Tommy with a beam during the battle. The fake Tommy gets access to the Command Center wtih a fake power coin. Fake Tommy calls the Dragonzord to attack the city.
2/22/95 - Return of The Green Ranger, Part III - Tommy finally gets up. He struggles to stand up though, as his clone has drained some of his energy from him. The battle of the century begins between the Dragonzord and Tigerzord. Tigerzord loses, and Tommy is thrown out of his Zord. He later tricks the Wizard into getting info about where his friends are. He later captures the staff from the wizard that sent his friends back in time. Tommy goes back in time to retrieve his friends as giant rats have been unleased there. The Rangers go back to the present and fight the Dragzonzord. Tommy defeats the Wizard wtih the time staff. The clone is released from the spell. Both Tommy's go back in time to stop the rats. The clone decides to stay back in the 1700's.
4/29/95 - Best Man For the Job - Tommy runs against Kimberly for school president of Angel Grove High. Rita casts a spell on Tommy and Kimberly which force them to become rivals. After that mess is resolved, Tommy drops out to let Kimberly win.
11/11/95 - Rita's Pita - Tommy teaches a kid about eating right. Rita sees this and creates a monster to go inside Tommy and make Tommy's body crave food. Tommy goes on an eating rage, disgusting the kid. The Rangers help him with his diet, going as far as getting the biggest sundae available and holding him back from it.
4/27/96 - For Cryin' Out Loud - For a school assignment, Tommy has to pretend he and Katherine are married for a weekend with a baby. Kat forces Tommy to change the baby's diaper. Kimg Mondo makes a big deal of the baby by making him cry at a very high level.
5/13/96 - There's No Business Like Snow Business, Part I - Tommy gets a letter from Kimberly informing him she's found another man in her life. He goes up to the mountains with Kat and Billy as a sort of way to cheer up. They meet Kaitlin from VR Troopers (snowboard champ Heather Thompson on this show).
5/14/96 - There's No Business Like Snow Business, Part II - Tommy has gotten closer to Heather, but King Mondo breaks up any connnetion by sending a monster. After that monster is defeated, he sends another one!
5/15/96 - There's No Business Like Snow Business, Part III - Kat sets up a nice dinner between Heather and Tommy. Kat and Tanya however can't hold there own against a monster, which forces Tommy to leave the dinner, and Heather to leave him.
5/16/96 - Inner Spirit - Tommy is having dreams again, this time about the "True Of Heart" when he was on his Zeo Quest. This causes him to be unfocused when controlling the new Red Battlezord.
5/17/96 - Found And Lost - Tommy's half-brother David has the other half to his arrowhead. Unfortunately for him, he is captured by Prince Sproket. This messes up Tommy in his concentration of connecting the Red Battlezord and Zeo Megazord.
9/9/96 - Brother, Can You Spare An Arrowhead? - Tommy gives his side of the arrowhead to King Mondo for what he thinks in-exchange for his brother. He doesn't give him back. They later do though, and the arrowhead is split into two.
9/19/96 - A Small Problem - It's a big problem for Tommy. While out in the desert with Katherine, his jeep (you'll be hearing more of this towards the present) is shrunk inside a fish tank by Prince Sprocket with your everyday spider that is way bigger than Tommy and Katherine. They're rescued.
11/6/96 - Where In The World Is Zeo Ranger 5? - Tommy gets to ride his uncle's new jet-ski in Angel Grove Lake when he suddenly vanishes. No one saw him disappear, except Prince Gasket who has him tied to a chair, brainwashing him.
11/7/96 - King For A Day, Part I - Tommy gets images into his brain of the Power Rangers being his enemies.
11/8/96 - King For A Day, Part II - Tommy fights his friend Jason, The Gold Ranger, in-front of the capacity Machine Empire audience. The battle is a draw. The Rangers later get to the place where he and Jason with help from Rita and Zedd. They demorph and remind Tommy of who he is. They're stuck, but a half-lizard, half-man named Tritor with help from Bulk and Skull break the forcefield which enables them to escape.
11/15/96 - Another Song And Dance - Tommy is placed under a spell with Tanya that makes him sing whatever he says.
3/28/97 - TURBO: A Power Rangers Movie - Tommy is nearly knocked into the volcano by former Gold Ranger Jason turned evil until a magic animal turns him good again (Larigot, thanks to The Muellers).
9/10/97 - Passing the Torch, Part I - Divatox's mother (Mama D) tells Divatox to go after the leader, which (luckily for him) is Tommy. While riding his jeep, Tommy is targed by Pirhanatrons on motorcycles. They strike his jeep, and Tommy goes flying through the air and knocked unconscious. Kat, who has relied on Tommy in the past to save her, can't return the favor. Tommy is dragged by a monster into a cave where he will fall into the Vortex of Doom as soon as the rats gnaw at enough of the rope that will release him.
9/11/97 - Passing the Torch, Part II - Tommy is saved (luckily) by TJ and Cassie. He gives up his powers to TJ. The last we'll here from him for awhlie for 5 years.
2/14/04 - Day Of The Dino, Part I - Tommy returns as a regular on the Power Rangers show. We see a flashback as Tommy is in what he's always in it seems, trouble. He's running from Tyrannodrones and leaps off an island into the water. It blows up. Tommy is also chased after by a mechanical dinosaur in his jeep. His students also find his home, with Tommy telling Conner not to call him "dude".
2/14/04 - Day of The Dino, Part II - Tommy begins his first fight with Zeltrax, but has no idea why Zeltrax holds a grudge on him (as do we).
2/21/04 - Wave Goodbye - Tommy waves goodbye as he is kidnapped by Tyrannodrones on his way to Hayley's Cyberspace.
2/28/05 - Legacy of Power - Ethan finds Tommy's video diary, which reveals his history as well as the history of Power Ranger teams itself.
3/13/04 - Diva In Distress - Tommy learns that Dr. Anton Mercer is still alive. He gives him a cold greeting. At Mercer's house, he tells his son to stay away from Tommy. An enemy?
3/27/04 - Golden Boy - Tommy takes Trent home in his jeep when he is attacked by a speedy Goldenron. He later defeats him, and Zeltrax claimed he was the only family he had and vowed for revenge (like we hadn't heard that before).
5/1/04 - White Thunder, Part III - Tommy is just trying to retrieve his team's Fossil Finder when he runs into Trent. He finds out he's the evil White Ranger. They both morph, and Tommy is sealed inside amber.
5/15/04 - Leader of the Whack - Hayley finds a way to get Tommy out of the amber. Unfortunately, he's stuck in Ranger form with no way out.
6/12/04 - Bully For Ethan - Tommy learns why Zeltrax has a hatred for him. He was a former friend of his named Smitty, who lost a job to Tommy, and took another one. An accident changed him for life. Tommy still fights him and beats him anyway. Still stuck in morphed form by the way.
So there you have it. It took awhile researching and typing (with help from tvtome.com). Some of them may be picky, but you'd have to say he's been through a lot.

I PROMISE you we are getting around to site updates. I'm finishing up some summaries and reviews to put up tommorow. I don't know why I haven't gotten around to updating the site (don't ask).
Walter Jones and Amy Jo Johnson (Zach and Kimberly on the 1st season of Power Rangers) were on "I Love The 90's" on the VH1 Network.
There's a petition out there to get more Power Rangers episodes on DVD. Here's the link http://www.petitiononline.com/PRDVD/.

Hey 1Ranger,
I meant to report this stuff earlier but I've had a busy July 4th week.
No body else has seemed to notice that on the PRDT episode "Lost And Found In Translation" the voice of the Japanese Blue Ranger was none other than Jorgito Vargas Jr., aka Blake, the Navy Thunder Ninja Storm Ranger! His voice is unmistakable. The credits confirm it as well. And may I just say, as funny and zany as that episode was (not that the Japanese show is always like that), I am so thankful that America makes it into a more serious Sci-Fi action/adventure!
And I don't know if anyone else has caught it, but in the new Live-Action Fat Albert movie we've seen Kevin Duhaney, Ethan of PRDT, playing one of the main characters (the guy in the red hat, Orange shirt,
and suspenders)!
And last Friday (7/2/04) Access Hollywood did a Behind-The-Scenes story about the movie, and who do they show doing a Bill Cosby impersonation but Keith Robinson, Joel from PRLR! He seems to be playing a guy from a rival group. Two Rangers in the same movie, with major roles, that any age fan can see! The movie is scheduled for December 24, Christmas Eve, this year (2004).
The PRDT video game coming out later this year was previewed at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), and, apparently, you get to play the individual Dino Zords (at least the main ones, I've seen Tyranno & Tricera)! I'm not sure about the reports about playable PRWF & PRNS Zords, but that would fill in the gap of 3-D PR games, the last one being PRTF. Somebody mentioned a November release, but Playstation.com actually says August!
And speaking of video games: the Official Playstation Magazine, #83, the August issue, has on their PS2 demo disc a playable demo of "The Red Star", based after the comic book that Paul Shrier (Bulk in the PR series) worked on, doing "3-D work and shadow directing". No word if he was involved in the making of the video game though. Me and my younger brother finished the demo. You can play 2 of the game's 3 characters. And it's kind of an "Arcade style" game: side-scrolling 3-D, with four direction movement. As good as I've heard the comic is I don't see much room for a good story with the way the game is done.
Thanks to The Muellers for the following
You might want to check out the commercial for the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes that is being advertised currently on T V, at the end of one of the commercials I saw a kid in a red Power Rangers Ninja Storm shirt, with what looks like the Red Ranger on it.
