Site notes: I'm really behind on the episodes, and I definitely know that. Luckily it won't be awhile until the next episode airs so I won't be far behind like I was with Ninja Storm. I didn't even finish the summary for "Leader of the Whack". Hopefully this week will be a catchup and can use the next two weeks to work on other parts of the site.

Thanks to The Muellers for the following information:

You mentioned in you newletter that it was 1997 during Turbo that the last cards came out, I have a set of trading cards from the Space series, but there are only a hand full of them. They came with a Ranger toy with only 9 cards in them.

No Power Rangers on ABC FAMILY this Memorial Day weekend (including Monday), which means no new episode next week (5/29). There will also be no new episode June 5th, because ABC FAMILY will be re-airing the 2nd new episode aired on Saturday, "The Missing Bone". New episodes begin on June 12. There will be new episodes on 6/12, 6/13, AND 6/19.

That is also affecting listings on ABC KIDS and TOON DISNEY, as you see above.

Bandai announced, in-conjunction with the last episode of Dino Thunder, they will be releasing toy ATV's in August. They retail for $9.99. You get a 5" action figure with the features you see on the show.

Amazon.com has listed the next two volumes of Power Rangers Dino Thunder, volumes 2 and 3. They'll probably consist of around 5 episodes each and they retail for $13.99. Scheduled release is September 7th.

Speaking of that, the trailer of Volume 1 is up at Disney Video's site. LINK

There was a Power Rangers spoof on Cartoon Network's Megas XLR. I haven't seen it for myself so if someone can send in a summary or pics, I'll make a separate posting of it later. Said to have been very good.

TV listings caught off guard

Today, ABC FAMILY aired the "White Thunder" three-part series, starting at 8 AM. Then at 9:30 AM, they aired the new episode"Burning at Both Ends". This was followed up by ANOTHER NEW episode, "The Missing Bone". This means that there is NO new episode next week because because of the Digimon marathon. Actually, there will be no Power Ranger episodes next Saturday OR Sunday or MONDAY because Digimon will be aired all three of those days. Power Rangers resumes airing on Tuesday, June 1st. That's a lot of Digimon episodes.

We will be doing all three episode summaries (including the episode from last week) this weekend.

Thanks to The Muellers for the following information:

The Power Rangers Dino Thunder DVD will contain the following episodes; The Ninja Storm finale "Storm Before the Calm" (both parts), "Day of the Dino" (both parts), "Wave Goodbye", "Legacy of Power", and "Back in Black".

The DVD will also include the following Bonus Features:

Interactive Dino Thunder Cards, Picture Gallery, Trailers, Interactive Menus. There will also be a Dino Thunder Poster and a collectible trading card included in the DVD.

Finally, it is rumored that there might be some never before seen footage on the DVD.

After 3 years of waiting, Power Rangers finally arrives on the next generation consoles on the Gamecube. It will be based on Dino Thunder and will be released in Novemeber, which means it will probably be released after the FINALE, but in-time for the holiday season, which you can infer they're caring more about business here. There are 50 missions and you can control 18 zords, which include some from "Ninja Storm".

A Dino Thunder game is also being released for the PlayStation 2.

There will also be the annual Game Boy Advance game released based on Dino Thunder, which should be released sometime during the summer.

A British website called ic Liverpool reports that the song "Freak You Out" sung by Kira Ford (played by Emma Lahana) will be released later this year. Also, it says that the executive producer of Dino Thunder (Doug Sloan) has contacted the writers who originally wrote "Freak You Out". Some notable quotes of the article are: "There are even a few websites about the song "Freak You Out" – asking when it is coming out." and "Some people are even doing their own unofficial remixes."

Speaking of Emma, she posted on her website EmmaLahana.com, a new article. She talks about Dino Thunder going into post-production and tells us she failed her driver's license test.

Bandai has Dino Thunder trading cards out on the market. A single pack retails for $2.50 and a case retails for $49.99. I believe this is the first time trading cards have been released since 1997, which was for the Power Rangers Turbo movie.

Phillip Andrews (Merrick in Wild Force) is in a horror movie called "The Hazing". It's definitely beyond your typical in-school hazings.

Hey check this out, our hero Glenn McMillan, who was Dustin, made Motocross Action Magazine: http://www.motocrossactionmag.com/readnews.asp?id=708

According to this article from backstage.com, Dee Dee Davis's sister (the girl who plays "Baby Girl" on the Bernie Mac show) Aree Davis was on an episode of Power Rangers. Upon further research, I believe she played "Ginny" in the Lightspeed Rescue episode "A Face From the Past". She had a teddy bear named Jeremy that caused trouble when she left her bear behind.

There's an article in PsychologyToday.com that has a line, "The difference between the American and the Scandinavian experience could arguably be summed up in four words: Mighty Morphin Power Rangers." The actual article is about bullying.

There's going to be Ninja Storm ice cream lollys coming out soon in the UK. Article. If you're in the UK and register on Foxkids.co.uk, you can play a game blasting things to win prizes. Commercials will air on Fox Kids UK to bring people to their web site.

Here's an update on Wen Yann Shih (actress who played the villain Vypra in Lightspeed Rescue) from FilmStew.com.

Here's one of the reasons Disney moved production of Power Rangers down to New Zeland, tax break laws.

EPISODE 14: "TRUTH AND CONSEQUENCES" REVIEW
Posted by TimJohnson on
May 9, 2004 @ 2:45 AM

What really is "White Thunder, Part IV" is the first episode without Tommy Oliver in it. It was pretty good, and near the end of the episode, I nearly forgot that Tommy was ever in Dino Thunder. Although I like seeing Tommy back on Power Rangers, it will be huge for next year's Power Rangers series because they probably won't have access to a former Ranger like Tommy this year.

ON TARGET

Hayley saying that Tommy could still live inside the fused amber was a fantastic explanation and didn't force the whole episode to based around trying to free Tommy.

I liked the quote by Conner when the scene was at Hayley's Cyberspace and Conner said that the White Ranger wasn't going to just walk in there, then Trent came up from behind them.

The Devin/Cassidy storyline of trying to find out who the White Ranger is coming along very nicely. Obviously they couldn't have had Devin and Cassidy find out who the White Ranger is before the Rangers, but their quest makes viewers want them to succeed. The tension before Cassidy's announcement was great, Trent looked uneasy and the other Rangers were anticipating who she was going to say it was.

I like how the writers are catering to the more watchful viewers like myself. This would have gone under my "stuff to think about" had Mesogog not caught it. When Elsa spotted the White Ranger on her tracking device, Mesogog was sitting on his chair and already saw the White Ranger on his monitor.

I was skeptical of Trent when he first appeared. I feared he would be one of those "oh gosh" characters whenever he appeared. His struggling between his normal self and the White Dino Gem is very good, his facial expressions are done very well.

The Kira/Trent storyline looks to be one of the best boy/girl Ranger relationships in a long time. There just seems to be more passion to it because there actually seems to be a conflict they need to help each other with.

The non-Sentai morphed footage fights have improved vastly since the series went to Village Roadshow Productions. I don't know why, because Alpha Stunts was also doing the action when the show was produced under MMPR Productions, but the action is up there with the Sentai fight scenes, including the weapon fights.

OFF TARGET

Zeltrax definitely needs to go or do someting significant. He's been beaten by nearly everyone, and isn't even wanted by his own master Mesogog. Have him do something significant, rather than just be humiliated by all the characters on the show. He looks way too tough to be treated like this, he is definitely not any of the Turbo villains or Marah and Kapri.

Now that they've "finished" the White Ranger mini-series, I would think it would be time they went back to the other storylines, such as Anton Mercer's invisiportals in his office or Dr. Oliver and Principal Randall. Based on the promos for the next episode, I don't see this, which kind of worries me but I'm sure this will be addressed in the near future.

STUFF TO THINK ABOUT

Was Conner's idea of dealing with and finding out who the White Ranger is, is going to Hayley's Cyberspace?

If there were cameras at Hayley's Cyberspace when Tommy was taken during "Wave Goodbye", wouldn't there be a camera with Tommy when he was at the abandoned warehouse that Hayley could have reviewed before he was amberized and found out that Trent was the White Ranger?

Wouldn't it have been funny if Cassidy Cornell was the one to break the news that Trent was the White Ranger?

Has Zeltrax done anything right during this whole series?

Wow, it isn't it ironic when Conner said the White Ranger just wasn't going to walk into Hayley's Cyberspace, Trent walked from behind them?

Why won't Hayley hire anyone else to work for her if she's getting "slammed"? Couldn't she ask Conner, Ethan, or Kira?

Why would Elsa create a device to "track" the White Dino Gem when all they have to do to find him is look at Mesogog's video monitor and wait for him to show up?

Do Elsa and Zeltrax have the worst fighting resume when it comes to Power Ranger villains?

Have we ever seen a "real" punch to the face on anyone ever in Power Rangers?

Wow, was anyone worried that Kira was going to beat the heck out of Trent when he told her he was the White Ranger?

I guess I was wrong about Elsa's tracking device, there is an actual use.

Even if Trent was truly evil, what would Trent have to gain by befriending Conner, Ethan, and Kira besides
"kicking their butts"? (besides the satisfaction of victory)

Why was Mesogog yelling at Elsa and Zeltrax about the White Ranger getting away when it was the Tyrannodrones who were in-charge of him?

Thanks to Carlo Smith for the following idea

And whatever happened to the Triptoids that Zeltrax brought back from the video game, "Wizardwood", that saved him from punishment from Mesogog?

How was Devin and Cassidy going to show who the White Ranger is (if they actually had the real footage) on a 2 inch screen up on the stage?

How come all the sixth Rangers are always "leaving" to find themselves or to do something? (Ryan in Lightspeed Rescue, Merrick in Wild Force, Zhane in Space, Tommy after he lost his Green Ranger powers, I'm treating Trent as a 6th Ranger btw)

Cover Story

Power Rangers S.P.D. is the series title in 2005

Usually the series title for the following year is announced in June, but because casting information is now readily available sooner, the fandom is able to know about it ahead of time. Things can still change, but for right now, Power Rangers S.P.D. is the title for 2005. The title will "officially" be announced in a press show sometime in June or July.

One reason they had to name it S.P.D. is because most of the equipment and footage they'll be using will have "S.P.D." on it. Usually every Sentai series in Japan has a symbol that identifies the group (such as the dino footprint in Abaranger used this year in Dino Thunder). This year in Dekranger, they use S.P.D. as their logo.

We go back to the old 2 female, 3 male format with all of them being introduced in the beginning rather than 3 in the beginning, then 2, then the final one later in the series or 3 in the beginning, then 1, then another in Ninja Storm and Dino Thunder respectively (if they follow the Dekaranger script). There will also be a sixth Ranger (which was will be introduced soon in Dekaranger).

The characters of S.P.D. are already identified, but their names and profiles could change between now and the series
premiere in February. A good example is Conner McKnight's sport being changed from basketball to soccer in Dino
Thunder. Jack Manners will probably be the Red Ranger. His profile is that he is a rebel yet dependable, similar to Conner. One note is that he doesn't like to "workout". Maybe he will go on a diet during the series. Schuyler "Sky" Blake will probably be the Blue Ranger. He's fulfulling his father's dream of becoming a Ranger and is the neater guy of the group. His eating and diet habits are directly opposite of Jack Manners. Bridge Carson should be the Green Ranger. Heis the smart guy of the group in tense situations, but gets himself into situations without thinking. Sydney Cole will probably be the Yellow Ranger. She is the "perfect" girl, but being a Ranger is totally different than what she had previously experienced. Elizabeth Manners is the brother of Jack Manners, and will probably be playing the Pink Ranger. She's similar to her brother in that she doesn't listen to anyone, but is never a hypocrite of her

word.

EPISODE 13: "WHITE THUNDER, PART III" REVIEW
Posted by TimJohnson on
May 2, 2004 @ 2:04 AM

Today's episode was supposed to be an action-packed episode to conclude this mini-series of Power Rangers Dino Thunder. Well, it was half of that.

ON TARGET

The opening Megazord battle did all it could since it was based on Abaranger footage.

I like how they're using Tommy not just for the cool fight scenes, but as sort of a mentor. It's also nice how they remembered the Rangers' hobbies. When was the last time you saw Conner playing soccer or even mentioned about it?

They made good use of the Fossil Finder at the end. People probably didn't remember from the last episode when it was dropped by Kira in the warehouse and never picked up. It's a much better setup than the old villain saying, "Come and get me".

Cassidy and Devin's side plot is coming along very nicely. They're using Devin's clumsiness effectively. I like how they didn't reveal at the end if Devin knew who the White Ranger was or what was on his tape.

I guess there was too much going on in the episode to include a Tommy/Zeltrax fight, but hopefully they'll keep them apart for awhile so they can start building up a "meaningful" fight.

OFF TARGET

I'm not into these "No one got hurt" lines. It's better to say nothing about anyone getting injured than "no one got hurt", because it's just unbelivable for many reasons.

The new Ranger not being on the side of good nor evil is getting pretty stale. I don't understand why it took three episodes for Mesogog and Zeltrax to confront the White Ranger, much less view him on their video screen. I'd rather have him be on Mesogog's side than have him in-between, because he's fighting the Dino Rangers. It's really confusing to see him right now because you know he's on the side of evil yet he's not with Mesogog so you think he's a good guy, but he's really not. Well that's the case so far with how he's been portrayed. It depends on who you think the evil characters in Dino Thunder are.

ON/OFF TARGET

The Black and White Ranger fight at the end was great on how it was built up and how Tommy found out that Trent was the White Ranger, but the actual fight was kind of a let down.

I had mixed reactions on the ending. At first, I was glad that the White Ranger storyline didn't finish because three episodes really wouldn't make the White Ranger's arrival significant. On the other hand, there is no "White Thunder, Part IV" so you felt kind of ripped off at the end when the problem wasn't resolved.

STUFF TO THINK ABOUT

How could Devin and Cassidy be the only ones hit by trash when there were other people running about?

Wasn't it funny how the Stega Zord moved faster after the White Ranger got control of it?

Wasn't Tommy's, "Oh no's" after the Thundersaurus Megazord split apart kind of dull and generic?

Did Tommy forget Ethan's name when he ran over to the Rangers just after they had gotten knocked out of their cockpit?

When Ethan asked, "Since when do they have bad Power Rangers?", didn't you think, "Why is he asking that now after three episodes?".

Did you also think that Ethan has a bad memory, because he SAW in "Legacy of Power" that his teacher was a former evil Ranger?

Did you also think like me when Ethan first said that about there being "bad" Power Rangers? (I'm not talking evil here)

Wow, it's only the 13th episode and Conner's already begun to show his true accent!

When Tommy said "Teacher's orders" to the Rangers to go have fun, weren't you thinking, "Why doesn't he tell them to do homework for his class?"

Did you see one of the guy's Conner faked out on the soccer field wearing the #14 Denver Broncos jersey worn by Blake last year?

With how Conner dribbles, shoots, and passes the ball, wouldn't you believe that any team would be offering the kid a spot on their roster or at least a tryout?

Did you just cringe when Hayley said, "No one got hurt"? It gave me flashbacks to "Ryan's Destiny".

When Hayley cringed at getting Cassidy a soy latte, don't you just feel bad because it seems she's the only one running the place?

Doesn't it just make sense to use a faster mode of transportation than just running to the scene (ala Wild Force)?

Did you just know when Zeltrax said Angor was upgraded, that Angor would really not be?

Did the White Ranger know Mesogog's track record of failing miserably to defeat the Power Rangers when he declined his offer to join forces?

Who was saying "We got here as soon as we could" when Kira and Tommy joined up with Ethan and Conner? Because evidently, it wasn't Kira, and it didn't sound like Tommy either...

Did you notice that there was barely any foam in Cassidy's latte in the last scene she was in?

Do you just know that Devin will mess up in bringing Cassidy the White Ranger footage next episode?

Was Tommy right when he said, "This is not gonna be pretty." at the end of the episode? Because the ensuing fight was full of missed kicks and swings...
